Hey, it’s Scott King welcoming you aboard to my corner of the Oldies 95.9 webpage. I’m exited about moving to WMQA and being able to continue to wake up the people in the northwoods! And of course playing the “Greatest Hits of All Time”!! So with the formalities out of the way, time to get to some stuff about me…………here goes!
Where are you from? I am a Midwest guy through and through. Was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from Wausau East High School (many many moons ago)
What’s your radio background? I have been doing the radio thing for a long time. It’s basically the only thing that I have done as an adult. I have worked in various spots throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Texas and a brief cup of coffee in Arkansas. I have done everything from “Top 40” to “Country” to “Rock and Roll Oldies”. With that being said, it’ll be a great thrill to get back and playing the “Rock and Roll Oldie’s” that I love!
What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies? I love to travel when the money is there. Not so much overseas travel, but stuff in the USA! There are so many great things to see and do in this country and I have been fortunate to see some pretty cool things! I love taking road trips! Nothing like getting in your car and heading out for a destination.
I am also a big baseball and football fan! Go Cubs! And Go Pack! I also enjoy following UW football and basketball! In the summer I enjoy spending time at the ballpark. I try to get to a few major league games a summer. I have had the pleasure of seeing baseball in about thirteen different major league stadium’s throughout the country. I do enjoy going on baseball road trips. I also have been to both the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY and the Negro Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo. If you’re a baseball fan, I recommend both places. For me, nothing beats a great summer day at the ball park!
I am also an avid collector of old tv shows on DVD. I am a big fan of 60’s and 70’s Cop /detective shows! Mission Impossible, Mannix, Adam 12 and the Fugitive are some of my favorites from that time period.
I also like some current tv including “Lost”, “House”, “Diner’s Drive Ins and Dives”, and “The Deadliest Catch”.
As far as movies goes, I enjoy comedies mostly with a good drama thrown in for good measure. Some of my all time favorite movies are “The Great Escape”, “Cool Hand Luke” “Bullit” and “The Getaway”…( can you tell I am a fan of Steve McQueen?). Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Robert DuVall and Gene Hackman are some of my favorite all time actors.
What type of Music do you like? I like a little of everything! I guess it depends what kind of a mood I’m in. I am a big fan of “Motown” and all the great artists that that label produced. Some other of my favorites include the Beach Boys, Paul Revere and the Raiders the Kinks and more!! I also have a soft spot for Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings!
Well that gives you a brief glimpse into who I am. Thanks much for checking this out! And make sure to tune me in weekday mornings at 6! On the northwood’s greatest hits! Oldie’s 95.9!!
